Kalysan Canyon

One of the most breathtaking hidden wonders of Socotra. Located in the southeastern part of the island, it is a dramatic limestone ravine known for its stark white walls and a series of deep, emerald-green freshwater pools. The canyon houses the largest freshwater pools on the island. The water is remarkably clear and ranges in color from deep turquoise to malachite green, fed by small waterfalls cascading over smooth limestone. The area surrounding the canyon rim is a prime location to see the endemic Bottle Trees (Adenium obesum socotranum). These bulbous trees often cling to the rocky cliffs, looking particularly striking when their pink flowers bloom in early spring.
