Qalansiya

The second-largest town on Socotra, located on the island’s northwestern coast. While it is a traditional fishing village with a quiet, local atmosphere, it serves as the gateway to some of the most famous and ecologically significant sites on the island. Widely considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world , Qalansiya is comprised of a lagoon surrounded by wide stretch of gorgeous soft sandy white beach that lies between a 400-meter-high limestone and granite cliffs, and the turquoise blue water, a formula for a breathtaking view, the protected Detwah Lagoon is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the vast, shallow waters that shift with the tides, a haven for marine life including leopard stingrays, puffer-fish, and blue-spotted ribbon-tail rays. It’s also an important area for migratory birds. Qalansiya is also the home of a local legend named Abdullah, often called "The Caveman" lives in a nearby cave and frequently hosts travelers, showing them how to catch seafood by hand and sharing stories of the lagoon.
